Case Study: Ella

Home-School Tutoring was approached by a school SENCO to provide Maths and English tutoring for Ella*. Ella, who suffers from extreme anxiety and has been diagnosed with Autism, had become overwhelmed with school and could no longer attend.

A tutor was assigned by Home-School Tutoring, who patiently worked with Ella. Initially, Ella hid in her bed and was reluctant to engage with her tutor.  Through persistent encouragement, Ella stopped hiding, began learning and developed a trusting bond with her tutor.

While the ultimate goal is to transition Ella to a new school, she currently receives ongoing support from her tutor and eagerly looks forward to her sessions.

Case Study: Sam

Sam*, was a Year 7 pupil who had moderate learning difficulties. Transitioning to secondary school was challenging for him, and he often refused to go in to school.

Following a request from the local authority interim provision service, we arranged for a tutor to attend Sam’s home three times a week.

As well as ensuring that he made academic progress, our tutor helped to rebuild Sam’s confidence. He is now able to attend school part-time, while continuing to receive support from his tutor.
